3-D Assemblage by Henry Ager
2026 D. Bradley Smith Art Purchase Award Winner

The Artwork

Photo of the Artist Henry's creation is a 3-D assemblage about Oscar Wilde. It features a felted green carnation which Wilde popularized as a symbol of same sex love, along with quotes of Wilde's words and clothing designs that suggest Wilde's personal style.

Henry is interested in all forms of love embraced by the human spirit -- brotherly love, family love, love expressed through art. As a child, he drew before he could write, and his interest in art was nurtured by family members who pursued a variety of crafts. Two years ago his interest turned to costume design, the field he intends to pursue.

In addition to design, Henry sings and participates in both chorus and show choir.

Henry plans to attend SUNY Fredonia.
